Dawg Dash 2009

Bandit, K, and I participated in a Dawg Dash 5K this morning held at Husky Stadium on the UW campus. This was our first time being involved in this event, but it coincides each year with homecoming festivities. We participated in the "walk" but did some sprints here and there to try and move ahead a little so as not to be toward the back of the pack of walkers. There was a great turnout, and we experienced absolutely no rain (!!), a far cry from yesterday's monsoon downpour. The walk began inside Husky Stadium, and then we wound around and through different parts of the campus, and ultimately finished up back inside Husky Stadium. There were lots of little hilly areas so that kept it a little challenging to keep up a fast pace. Since dogs were encouraged to participate, there were quite a few of them. The water stations not only had water for the human participants, but bowls of water on the ground for the canine participants. Bandit enjoyed meeting and greeting lots of different kinds of pooches. Our entry fee to participate will go toward student scholarships. We didn't run into sorority girl, niece M-V.

Our times were just posted. K finished with a time of 45:16, and Bandit and myself finished at 45:17.

As we got up toward some of the campus buildings, some Husky band members were playing a song from Queen.
I asked a woman in front of us if she'd take our picture. This was before the race began.
Just one of many meet and greets Bandit had this morning
Waiting patiently for the race to begin
Taking in the view of Husky Stadium
Relaxing in the car on the drive home
This is a little helmet car that they drive around the stadium during games and such
