"Go Dog, Go!" Canine Festival

K and I took Bandit to Crestwoods Park in Kirkland today for the Go Dog, Go! festival.  They had lots of booths with all kinds of information geared toward strictly dogs, freebies of all sorts, disc competitions, flyball demonstrations, interpretive dance, agility, a costume contest, and all kinds of people with all sorts of breeds of dogs.  Several local organizations had people walking dogs wearing adopt me vests, so hopefully there are some happy rescue pooches going to their new forever homes.

If anyone local missed this fun event, next weekend is the dog festival at Seattle Center (see the link at the left).  We'll have to miss it this year because it's on the same day as when we take M up north to summer camp.

Bandit got himself a new freebie Go Dog, Go! bandanna and then we corralled this clown for a photo
"I like my new bandanna!"
There were lots of opportunities for making doggy small talk and getting a drink of water
For a $1 donation the public could take a picture of these teacup poodles dyed bright Easter egg colors. The money was going toward a shelter.
This big friendly fellow was enjoying the festival with his family
Bandit said, "Mama, please don't ever do this to me!"
We sat and watched several of the novice and "pro" disc competitions.  We weren't prepared for entering the contest as it required a fee, but next year we're going to enter Bandit in the novice competition.  He sat mesmerized watching all the dogs run and catch.
I didn't take my zoom lens with me to get a better shot, but there is a dog here leaping high and catching a disc
Bandit also enjoyed watching dogs demonstrating running through a flyball course. Some of those dogs literally fly!
Check out this cutie's ears!
These two performed an interpretive dance to some Israeli music
This duo danced to Manhattan Transfer's "Operator." This dog is a rescue who was practically at death's door when this lady adopted her.
These two danced to a country song called "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem." Check out those doggy board shorts!
Bandit gave a weak try at fishing for balls since he doesn't care for water.  He was handed a ball anyway so all ended on a positive note.
There was always a crowd around the Easter egg colored teacup poodles
We'll definitely come back next year and enter Bandit in the disc competition
The freebies!! There was even one vendor who had a few stacks of kitty food, so we were able to bring back a little something special for Simba.

That looks like a lot of fun! Ninja hates water so he wouldn't have fished a ball out either. But Penny would have jumped right in.

Wow! This looks so cool! What a fun event! I feel bad for the little dyed dogs though. :( Poor things!

Kirby didn't run anywhere after his bath. He shook and shook and shook, and then he put himself to bed! He was DONE. Haha!
