Bandit Graduated "Beyond Puppyhood" Class

Today was Bandit's last class in StarBarks 101 "Beyond Puppyhood." He actually learned quite a bit this go-round, as did I. A lot of dog training is knowing how to give a proper command, how to make a proper correction if the dog doesn't get it right away, and knowing when to praise/treat. It's important to do things correctly in order for the dog to process things correctly and understand what we're asking them to do. We only had half the class show up today, but at one point we were all asked to put our dogs into the "down" position and then told them to stay. The instructors then walked around the dogs and did things that might cause distraction and cause the dogs to "break" from the down/stay. Bandit lasted second to the last, so I was pretty proud of him. There were two dogs left behind him but they broke at the very same time. At the end of class we all received recognition awards. Bandit and I are going to take a little break from more classes until after the holidays, so we'll be working on our own until then and hopefully pick right up where we left off after the first of the year with Bandit's skills down solid.
